Location is perfect, just a block from Michigan Ave. The beds were a bit uncomfortable and the bathrooms need a serious update. Enjoyed the billiards and walking tours offered. Free breakfast was decent but light on healthy options.

Couldn't ask for more.

Very friendly staff and spacious common areas. The location is prime for walking tours. Breakfast options could be improved; I expected more variety. The noise from the nearby trains can be disruptive at night. Enjoyed the billiards and game rooms to unwind after a day out.

I love that the place is right downtown and super walkable. The staff are friendly and the entertainment room is perfect for chilling and meeting new pals.
Breakfast is a bit of a letdown with limited options.

Hi Chicago Hostel offers a unique experience with its well-sized rooms and communal areas, creating a cozy, house-like atmosphere. The breakfast exceeded expectations, and the staff's friendliness enhanced our stay. it’s worth noting some issues with maintenance and facilities that please be aware of.

I found the mattress lacked support, making sleep difficult at times. The bathroom offered decent privacy for a hostel, which was a plus. Noise from the nearby subway was noticeable, particularly at night. While there were decent breakfast options available, they didn’t impress. The curtains in the dorm provided a sense of personal space, which I appreciated. the ambiance felt a bit lacking, especially concerning temperature and comfort.

I had such a rough stay—our room was a mess, no one cleaned up after previous guests. I found a cigarette butt under my bed and the staff barely cared when I pointed it out. Total disappointment!

The location is close to lots of cool spots and public transport. The breakfast had many options and was quite tasty.
It wasn’t cheap, but it was still acceptable.

The location is spot on—just blocks from the busy downtown, near Grant Park, and public transportation. The mini suite was surprisingly spacious in a quiet, house-like setting. Breakfast options exceeded expectations, and the common areas were ample and well-designed. Staff was consistently friendly, and cleanliness was commendable. room cleanliness could use improvement, particularly regarding shared bathrooms. The locker situation is inconvenient, and the credit card security breach is concerning. Noise from metal lockers can also disrupt sleep. it’s a decent option for the price, but some operational issues need addressing. I would revisit but with cautious optimism.

The private rooms are impressively spacious, offering great perks, like convenient bathrooms. Breakfast has plenty of choices but isn’t hot. The atmosphere is perfect for solo travelers, not noisy, and the WiFi is reliable. air conditioning issues left the room chilly, disrupting sleep. A couple of things, like an overflowing sink in the kitchen and someone borrowing my food, were unfortunate but manageable. The solid location makes it easy to explore, just be prepared for some train noise if you’re near the tracks. With a blend of perks and quirks, it’s still decent value for money.

I absolutely loved my stay as I was just a short stroll away from Millennium Park, Grant Park, and the iconic Willis Tower, making it super easy to soak in the city's vibrant atmosphere and discover all the landmarks, plus there were tons of delicious restaurants just minutes away like Epic Burger and Gino's East for quick bites after my walks; the staff was friendly and I enjoyed the breakfast provided, but the bed could be a tad more comfortable.

My friends and I hit up the best live music spots in Chicago and jammed all night! We also joined a cool walking tour in a new neighborhood , total eye, opener. The Cultural Kitchen program at the hostel was a blast with fun cultural activities!
Wish there was a better party scene for us young peeps , more late, night fun and hangout spots would've been awesome! .

Choosing to stay at Hi for its proximity to Millennium Park was a great decision. The excitement of Chicago came alive from the center of all the action at this beautiful historic hostel. The comfortable accommodation with complimentary continental breakfast made the stay even more enjoyable.
Tiny rooms, limited housekeeping, low water pressure, and drying shampoo.

I arrived late at night and was pleasantly surprised to find plenty of breakfast options available the next morning at Hi. The convenient location made it easy for me to explore the city. The direct metro line to the airport was a huge plus. my stay achieved its goal, but I did struggle with the noise from the elevated train. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

During my xmas stay, the location was spot-on, with subway stations and iconic landmarks just a short walk away. The breakfast spread was satisfying, offering a variety of food and drinks to kick start the day. The opportunity to meet people from different parts of the world and participate in various activities organized by volunteers added a fun element to the experience.
The air conditioning system seemed determined to turn us into popsicles despite the mild temperatures outside. The lack of recycling options in the kitchen felt like a missed opportunity to be more eco-friendly.

The location was fantastic, with easy access to public transportation and plenty of attractions within walking distance. My private room was cozy and spacious, which was a definite plus. there were a few issues that affected my overall experience. The heating in my room was out of whack, and I couldn't adjust it myself since the control was in another guest's room. Despite assurances from the staff, no one came to help, leaving me shivering for hours. The lack of proper communication and follow-up was frustrating. the cleanliness of the bathroom was not up to par. It wasn't cleaned daily, especially on weekends, which was a letdown. The shared areas, including the rooms and common spaces, seemed to lack consistent upkeep. I even had an unfortunate incident where my personal belongings went missing during a brief absence, making me wary of security measures. the staff members I interacted with were friendly and generally helpful. The shared shower and bathroom facilities were kept in good condition, which was a relief. the bathroom situation could be improved, as having only one bath per suite led to inconvenient wait times during peak usage. my experience highlighted the need for better maintenance and attention to detail at The Hi Chicago.

Met tons of Girl Scout troops; felt like a global citizen. Threw myself into green living - reduced, reused, recycled and had a grand old time! The quick airport access was fantastic, and the Thanksgiving Feast was a true delight!
Celebrated peace day with creepy creeps.
